This one-semester course covers two topics:  Internet Concepts and Microsoft Publisher.  Students will learn to use the Internet as both an educational and business tool as well as learn the elements of desktop publishing through the use of Microsoft Publisher software.  Major areas of discussion include:

Part 1--Internet Concepts

Managing files
Understanding net addresses
Using a browser
Performing effective web searches ("Fly Fishing" search)
Using online resources
Exploring the Net for information and fun
Evaluating Web Sites (WebQuest)
        

Part 2--Desktop Publishing with Microsoft Publisher

Creating and editing a publication
Designing a newsletter
Preparing a tri-fold brochure
Creating a web site with Publisher
