It's not necessary to recreate the wheel.  Start building your own class web page by first looking at pages created by other teachers.

Your Assignment: Visit some of the class webs created and published by other teachers.  The links below will get you started.  As you visit each site, list the name of the site and what you like and don't like about it.  Also record any good ideas you can use on your own pages.
