  • Issue papers to get insurance reduction
  • Distribute senior license papers
  • Teach changes in the driving laws

Traffic Safety Education is a required class for tenth-grade students and consists of developing the proper mental attitudes needed for driving an automobile. It covers of all Pennsylvania's laws governing driving. The course also covers the rules of the road and explains why driving is a privilege and not a right. Along with this, the class reviews the responsibilities of the driver.

The course is designed to help the students become safe drivers. If they are learning to drive, it will give them all the information they need to study for the driver's examination. If they already have their licenses, it will help them review the rules of the road or learn about the changes that may have gone into effect.

Behind-the-Wheel Training may be scheduled upon completion of Traffic Safety Education. Students may take Behind-the-Wheel Training in the summer. There is a fee of $50 for this course. The state requirement is six hours of behind-the-wheel training.  No credit is granted, but students will get an insurance reduction and can receive a senior license when they turn 17, with parental consent.
