The basic English course. In this class, students learn to
think, read,
and write in an analytical mode.
Academic English 12
In this course, students are prepared for the rigors of
post-high
school studies. Through various exercises, the students learn how
to write effective essays, perform a formal speech, and sharpen
their reading skills
Advanced Placement English
This is a college-level course concerned with the study of a
wide
range of literature. Grades are assessed primarily through tests
and essays. Since this is a college-level course, Honors English 11
is a prerequisite.
Creative Writing
Students compose their own short stories, poems, plays, television
shows, and film scripts as they gain an understanding and learn
fundamental skills of writing creatively. Students are guided
through the writing process as they invent characters and plots,
write dialogue, establish settings, and experiment with many forms
of poetry. Students are encouraged to select genres (mystery,
fantasy, science fiction, humor, etc.) in which they are interested.
