Baseball is a long- standing tradition in the Keystone community.
The Strawberry Social continues to keep that tradition alive.

The Strawberry Social was started 30 –35 years ago. It was started as a fund raiser to get people together, a social event. The social is sponsored by the Knox Little League, and each team plays three innings of baseball at the social. You watch the games, eat, and interact with friends and family. Anytime the social is held it’s a benefit, and it helps out. People donate money and food like strawberries for the cake, etc. The Social is held mid June.

The social is held rain or shine. Usually parents who have kids are in charge of helping, finding volunteers, and ordering the food. The Little League is the sponsor of the social. Last year they paid the SMILES Center for volunteers. 300 players plus their friends and family come to the social so about 3000 people are there.

Barb Rex has been in charge of the Strawberry Social for the past couple of years. The social gets many comments on how fun the social is and how well it's put together. One person said “It is fun to get with your friends for a game of softball. I’m really glad that there is food afterwards cause you get really hungry playing.” Many say that the social is a great thing to go to on a nice day with your family.
