Sandy Emery is a proprietor of a convenient store called Emery’s Outlet located in Callensburg, Pa. “My husband and I have managed other stores and small businesses.” They have lived in Callensburg for almost 26 years, which is where her store is located. Another thing that she told me was, “ we have two kids that go to the Elementary School, and they are doing good and I like them going into the school.” She bought her store from a private individual about 18 years ago. She also told me that, “We have been opened officially for 17 years.”  She remembers that, “ quite a few business aren’t around that were back then because they were going under.”

They decided that Callensburg needed a new store since the other ones started closing. At first they started a store that sold wholesale fabrics. After several months, ”we decided a convenience store would be more helpful”, and “ a lot of older individuals needed a closer place to shop.”

Now that they have been in the business for a while they do believe that their business has had a positive effect on the community. Also they believe that there community has improved by their store because for one,” it is close, we keep our prices fair and by providing fresh homemade baked goods.”

“A few important factors that help our store is that we are located in a good place.” Emery’s Outlet is located right in-between Parker and Sligo.  "There aren’t that many stores around, Emery’s is in a very good location.” Another important factor is that “we have a good number of regular customers.” Last but not least is, “lot’s of people travel for my fresh homemade baked goods.”
