Sportsmen Outfitters was originally owned by a man named Bob Wynkoop. Bob owned the business for a short period of time, but it is now owned by Randy Culberson. Sportsmen Outfitters has kept its original name through out the years. In 1974 Randy and Don Culberson bought the business and kept it running, in 1980 Randy bought Don's share of the business, and became the sole owner.

We recently interviewed Randy about his business and what he had to say about it. "Sportsmen Outfitters had no effect on the community it just helped the other local businesses out. The most important factor of our business is the products that we sell and our knowledge of the products. There are no plans on opening another business or expanding the one in Knox."

The original business was located in the center of Main Street then moved to the end of Main Street, then it was moved to the old theater building on State Street. Sportsmen Outfitters is now located beside the theater building where the Friendly Tavern used to be. A portion of the old building is still used today for supplies and to sight in bows.

"The employees should be able to take care of the customers courteously, they should be knowledgeable and they should keep the shelves stocked. There is nothing about the business that I would change."

Sportsmen Outfitters also does things for charity. They support Youth and Field Day, which is very popular. They donate to most hunting activities, organizations and donate to the schools when possible.

Sportsmen Outfitters helps all of the local business by bringing in people. The customers can buy sporting goods and also go to the other local stores.

The idea for the business came to Randy because he enjoys  fishing and hunting, but no big problems came up when the business first opened.

The past activities that were held are planned to happen again including the anniversary sale and the youth and field day.
