Knox Auto Supply Inc.

Knox Auto Supply Inc. was started in 1959 by Fred Mays. He started this small automotive business at the young age of 25 right after he returned to the United States from the military service. At that time there were three car dealerships and no automotive services in the Knox Area.

Mr. Mays started this business in a small building across from the towns local Laundromat. With only a small amount of money he was able to purchase this building in which he used to sell parts and also fixed cars, rebuilt engines and did various other service work. He only employed two other people at that time.

In 1963 as the business grew, Mr. Mays sold the small building across from the Laundromat and built a larger store adjacent to the Keystone Jr./Sr. High School. This let him accommodate more stock and a larger repair service area to fulfill the exploding automotive needs of Knox and the surrounding areas. Again, in 1977, he doubled the size of his business. As this expansion happened he employed more people. As of May 14th 2002, he has 24 employees under his instruction.

As the demands grew, so did the store. Mr. Mays expanded to the New Bethlehem area to satisfy the ongoing demand to reach out to new customers.

Fred Mays and his company, Knox Auto Supply Inc., has brought a valuable commodity not only into the Knox area, but to New Bethlehem and the surrounding areas with delivery to other local businesses as well. His companies’ services make it easy for surrounding companies, businesses, and private citizens to have quick and easy access to quality parts and great service with a smile.

As a life long resident of Clarion County, Mr. Mays has, and is still giving his customers trustworthy and honest opinions from his knowledge that he has acquired from being a patron to the automotive part industry for over 40 years.

Starting with only a few dollars and a big dream Mr. Mays kept faith with the growth and expantion of his business. He saw an opportunity to do what he wanted to do in life and didn’t give up on his goals. He now has his own piece of the American Dream.

In March of 2002, Knox Auto Supply Inc. teemed up the NAPA to create a bigger business to please you with their wide selection of parts and a full automotive machine shop. Knox Auto Supply and NAPA are here to fulfill your automotive needs. They also have recently added go-kart parts to their selling options. And as their slogan says, "You want it, you need it, they have it." Knox Auto Supply, located in Knox and New Bethlehem.
