Music Theory

Music Theory is a class that meets every other day. Students become familiar with the nuts and bolts of music by sharpening their reading and listening skills and by developing skill in harmonic analysis. The three areas of study include theory, aural skills (ear training), and sight singing. This class is for anyone who may be considering significant involvement in post high school musical activity or anyone who just wants to understand music better. The class emphasis is on mastery of concepts and musical understanding rather than passing tests.

An alternative section of this class is being piloted this year. The focus will be on current trends in music, music history, garage band, focus groups, and world music.
