EXPLORATORY SPANISH
This is an introduction to the Spanish language, its culture and people, and its geography.  All eighth grade students are enrolled in this class for a six week period.  Emphasis is given to basic sounds, lines of dialogue, and introductory vocabulary.

SPANISH I
In this course the emphasis is on learning to pronounce the sounds of Spanish correctly and on acquiring as much basic vocabulary as possible.  Oral and listening skills are developed. Basic grammatical structure and writing skills are introduced

SPANISH II
Spanish I is a prerequisite to this course in which there is an emphasis on grammar. Students will continue to increase their vocabulary and areas of cultural interest are explored. Dialogues, conversations, and short story selections may also be read and discussed.

SPANISH III
Spanish II is a prerequisite to this course. An in-depth study of grammar is made, new tenses are introduced, and conversational skills are developed with short story literature selections being introduced. An examination of culture, history and geography is undertaken.

SPANISH IV
Spanish III is a prerequisite to this course. An in-depth review of grammar is made and conversational skills are refined. More advanced studies of literature are attempted and a better understanding of cultural values is gained.
